Using the 1 vs 1 RBF kernel and window length of 2 min we re-constructed hypnograms (data without noise removal) which compared favorably (except for sparse misclassification) to the hypnograms obtained by expert sleep staging (see Fig. 4A). Given that the AASMrules are in part based on the relative power in different EEG frequency bands, it was of interest to reconstruct and compare the EEG spectrum from each sleep stage for the expert scored stages in test set # 1 and the stages classified with the 1 vs 1 RBF kernel.
