Welcome in Rio de Janeiro. My name is Linda Gräter and I’m your city guide for this day. Before we start the tour I want to talk about the geography and history of Rio. Then we will visit the Christ statue and the sugar loaf mountain. And at the end we will go to the famous beaches in the city. Geography: Rio de Janeiro is in the southeast of Brazil at the Atlantic coast, more exactly said because of the Guanabara Bay. Rio de Janeiro is the second large city in Brazil. In the city live 6.3 Million inhabitants. The area is 1260 Square kilometre big. The city is in the tropical climate zone and the hottest day in the year is 22.6 degrees. In the summer it rains very often it’s from December to April. In the winter it doesn’t snow because it’s to warm. The name of the inhabitants in Rio de Janeiro is Carioca. 64 % of the Carioca are catholic. The national language is Portuguese, but many people speak other Languages for example Spain, English or French.

Dann besuchen wir die Christusstatue und den Zuckerhut. Und am Ende werden wir zu den berühmten Stränden der Stadt. Geographie: Rio de Janeiro liegt im Südosten Brasiliens an der Atlantikküste, genauer gesagt wegen der Guanabara Bay. Rio de Janeiro ist die zweite große Stadt in Brasilien. In der Stadt leben 6,3 Millionen Einwohner. Das Gebiet ist 1260 Quadratkilometer groß. Die Stadt ist in der tropischen Klimazone und die heißesten Tage im Jahr beträgt 22,6 Grad. Im Sommer regnet es sehr oft, dass es von Dezember bis April. Im Winter ist es nicht schneit, weil es zu warm ist. Der Name der Einwohner in Rio de Janeiro ist Carioca. 64% der Carioca sind katholisch. Die Landessprache ist Portugiesisch, aber viele Menschen sprechen andere Sprachen zum Beispiel Spanien, Englisch oder Französisch.
