Increasing concentrations of curcumin caused a decrease in the level of hTERT mRNA in MCF-7 cells. hTERT is activated in cancer cells and prevents telomere shortening and thus the activation of apoptotic processes. The inhibition of hTERT is an additional mechanism by which curcumin can induce cell death in cancer cells
