The high level concept of Avaya’s VDI Communicator is to re-direct the media stream outside of the virtualized desktop session and terminate the media directly to the VDI endpoint device. This concept essentially uses two “phones” in a remote control mode, providing users a visual interface on their virtual desktop running in the data center that is in synch with the VDI Communicator on the thin client device. The Avaya VDI Communicator works like a phone, but in normal operation it has no user interface (there is a minimal UI for administration and emergency dialing that’s not normally visible.) It is wholly controlled by the soft phone hosted in the data center. The end result is the user gets an integrated UC experience with uncompromised audio quality.
