"Komisch" heißt nicht etwa "seltsam" oder "merkwürdig", sondern eher "lustig". Zur Zeit etwa um 1750 gab es in Italien (wie auch in Deutschland, das sich sehr nach Italien richtete) die "opera seria" (d.h. ernste Oper, in der es um Götter, griechische Philosophie usw. ging) und die opera buffa (lustige Oper), die alltäglichere Themen hatte und meist ein Spaßmacher-Pärchen. Es gibt Bezüge zur vezianischen Commedia dell'arte (s. Wikipedia). In Frankreich kam die "opéra comique" auf, ebenfalls ein Gegenstück zur allzu ernsten Oper. "Komische Oper" ist also nur eine Übersetzung der Begriffe aus Italien bzw. Frankreich. Sieh bei wikipedia auch mal nach "opera buffa".
