Madam President, in our resolution on the death penalty which we agreed with the other groups, we appealed to the Governor of Virginia to spare the life of a person sentenced to death.

Frau Präsidentin, in der mit anderen Fraktionen abgestimmten Entschließung zur Todesstrafe in den USA haben wir den Gouverneur von Virginia aufgefordert, das Leben eines zum Tode Verurteilten zu verschonen.

- Madam President, as you can see, my colleagues are jealous of our relationship, which is why they have acted as our chaperones here this afternoon.

Madam President, the problem we have in this debate is to know what it is we are talking about when we talk about families.

Madam President, could you point out to the new colleague that this is a European Parliament and if he wants to continue with his narrow nationalist views maybe he should have been elected to the Scottish Parliament?

Frau Präsidentin, könnten Sie den neuen Kollegen darauf aufmerksam machen, daß dies ein europäisches Parlament ist und er sich, falls er bei seinen engstirnigen nationalistischen Ansichten bleiben will, vielleicht in das schottische Parlament hätte wählen lassen sollen?
