Dear Sister Izabela, Pax Christi ! Thank you very much for your email and for your prayer for our Sisters and the whole population of Rutshuru/ Congo. Now the situation is not yet quiet, the refugees are still there and there is fighting in Rugali, an ancient Parish of Pallottine Fathers which is not very far from Rutshuru, there many people are wounded with shootings. In Rutshuru, the security is guarded by the soldiers of UN, the rebels are there also but hidden.

Jetzt ist die Situation noch nicht still, die Flüchtlinge sind immer noch da und es wird in Rugali, eine alte Pfarrkirche von Pallottiner das ist nicht sehr weit von Rutshuru kämpfen, gibt es viele Menschen mit Schießereien verwundet. In Rutshuru, die Sicherheit von den Soldaten der UN bewacht wird, sind die Rebellen dort auch, aber verborgen.

Our Sisters are still there courageous despites the situation, they help refugees as well as they can. Last time sr Dominika went in Poland for two months, she will spend some days in Poland in her family and participate in the meeting in Francewhichich is meant for her apostolate in Congo.

Sr Epiphanie is going to join Sr Adeline and Sr Marie Therese in Rutshuru, because it is hard for them to stay alone in that situation, Sr Grazyna is also in Poland for holiday. Fortunately there are also other people with them; the staff members of Red Cross and another NGO who came to assist refugees and wounded people. They are about six persons and they stay in our Community; with their presence, our sisters are not afraid.

Sr Epiphanie wird sich Adeline Sr und Sr Marie Therese in Rutshuru, beitreten, weil es für sie schwer, allein zu bleiben in dieser Situation ist, ist Sr Grazyna auch in Polen für Urlaub. Zum Glück gibt es auch andere Menschen mit ihnen, die Mitarbeiter des Roten Kreuzes und anderen NGO, die Flüchtlingen und Verwundeten zu helfen kam. Sie sind etwa sechs Personen, und sie bleiben in unserer Gemeinschaft, mit ihrer Anwesenheit, sind unsere Schwestern keine Angst.

We must not leave them alone now, but must try, together, to open up a large number of sources of aid and to show the people -not only those who stayed there, but also the refugees who still hesitate to go back -that the reconstruction of the country depends on everyone lending a hand.

Wir dürfen sie jetzt nicht allein lassen, sondern müssen gemeinsam versuchen, viele Hilfsquellen aufzutun und den Menschen zu zeigen -nicht nur denen, die dort geblieben sind, sondern auch den Flüchtlingen, die noch zögern zurückzukehren -, daß es beim Wiederaufbau des Landes auf jede Hand ankommt.

I could also go along with this approach, precisely because of what we saw with the refugees in Germany: many came to Germany because they had personal contacts there, because they knew the language, because they had already been there as migrant workers, and had thus found sanctuary with families.

Dieser Ansicht könnte ich auch zustimmen, denn gerade auch an den Flüchtlingen in Deutschland hat man gesehen, daß viele nach Deutschland gekommen sind, weil sie dort persönliche Bindungen hatten, die Sprache kannten, weil sie dort auch schon einmal als Gastarbeiter gewesen waren und dadurch Zuflucht bei Familien gefunden hatten.
