Medical treatment of the bariatric patient bears different difficulties. Especially drug absorption and dosage finding remain unclear after Roux-Y-Gastric Bypass. Only few studies and some case reports investigated the impact of a functional shortened bowel and even lesser in the bariatric patient. As data on specific medication is limited, further studies are needed to determine the influence of bariatric surgery on these drugs and the implication for medical treatment of the bariatric patient with comorbidities.

Medizinische Behandlung der Adipositas Patienten trägt verschiedene Schwierigkeiten. Besonders Arzneimittelabsorption und Dosisfindung bleiben nach Roux-Y-Magenbypass unklar. Nur wenige Studien und einige Fallberichte untersucht die Auswirkungen einer funktionellen verkürzten Darm und noch weniger in der bariatrischen Patienten. Da die Daten auf bestimmte Medikamente begrenzt ist, sind weitere Studien erforderlich, um den Einfluss der bariatrischen Chirurgie auf diese Medikamente und die Auswirkungen für die medizinische Behandlung der Adipositas Patienten mit Komorbiditäten zu bestimmen.
