This year AIM invites entrants to demonstrate how their proposal will deliver renewal and preservation to the villages of Shengsi’s fragile and pristine eastern islands. Your design proposal will form a portion of the newly-developing tourism sector. It should present and communicate an attractive investment opportunity allowing for feasible implementation. [Profit is not the first condition of necessity]

In diesem Jahr lädt AIM Teilnehmer zu zeigen, wie ihr Vorschlag wird Erneuern und Bewahren zu den Dörfern zerbrechlich und unberührten östlichen Shengsi die Inseln zu liefern. Ihr Design-Vorschlag bilden einen Teil des neu entstehenden Tourismusbranche. Es sollte zu präsentieren und zu kommunizieren eine attraktive Investitionsmöglichkeit für mögliche Umsetzungen ermöglicht. [Gewinn ist nicht die erste Voraussetzung der Notwendigkeit]

The winners of the competition will be the team or individual who best blend the islands indigenous culture (way of life and way of making a living) and tourism (i.e. eco tourism) in their designs. Your location will focus on Huang LongIisland, Hua Niao Island, and Guo Qi Island. Specific sites are highlighted on the map; entrants are invited to make their own selection of site. We look forward to receiving entries which demonstrate sensitivity, empathy, and creativity towards the inhabitants of Shengsi Islands. CAD, 3D model and site photos are available in download.

Die Gewinner des Wettbewerbs wird das Team oder Einzelperson, die beste Mischung der Insel indigene Kultur (Weg des Lebens und Weise seinen Lebensunterhalt zu verdienen) und Tourismus (zB Öko-Tourismus) in ihre Entwürfe sein. Ihr Standort wird am Huang LongIisland, Hua Niao Island, und Guo Qi Insel zu konzentrieren. It is in this context that I should like to refer to the particular importance of granting state aid to island regions, where the cost of fuel and energy has an adverse impact on their competitiveness and on the flexible application of both existing and future state aid in relation to the cost of transport, the application of an integrated policy on tourism, the application of an effective business policy and the immediate creation of an administrative unit for islands at the Regional Policy DG on the basis of experience acquired by the administrative unit for remote regions, the operation of which will safeguard all the peculiarities and needs of the islands and of their permanent and seasonal inhabitants which are taken into account in the development and application of European policies, especially in the transport, energy and water resource management sectors.

Zudem möchte ich betonen, dass es notwendig ist, eine integrierte Fremdenverkehrspolitik und eine effiziente Unternehmenspolitik zu verfolgen und innerhalb der Generaldirektion Regionalpolitik auf der Grundlage der Erfahrungen, die die Dienststelle für Regionen in äußerster Randlage bereits gesammelt hat, unverzüglich eine solche Dienststelle für die Inseln zu errichten. Eine solche Behörde wird all den Besonderheiten und Bedürfnissen von Inseln und ihren dauerhaften und saisonalen Bewohnern Rechnung tragen, die bei der Entwicklung und Umsetzung gemeinschaftlicher Politiken insbesondere in den Bereichen Verkehr, Energie und Bewirtschaftung der Wasserressourcen berücksichtigt werden.

Instead, as others have already stressed, tourism is actually a highly valuable industry which indeed produces well-being and GDP, but above all produces employment.
