Auch dem Rat möchte ich danken, denn sowohl der finnische Ratsvorsitz als auch der österreichische und nicht zuletzt der luxemburgische, der die Grundlage für den Kompromiss geschaffen hat, haben einiges dazu beigetragen, dass wir morgen zu einem guten Abschluss kommen können.

I would also like to thank the Council, because both the Finnish and Austrian Presidencies and not least the Luxembourg Presidency, which created the basis for the compromise, have helped to make it possible for us to reach a good conclusion tomorrow.

Ich möchte darauf hinweisen, daß der Moskau-Mechanismus nicht vom Rat, sondern von der OSZE angewandt werden kann.

May I point out that the Moscow mechanism is not for the Council to use, it is for the OSCE to use.

(2) Wie im Weißbuch über erneuerbare Energieträger (nachstehend "Weißbuch" genannt) ausgeführt wurde, ist die Förderung der Stromerzeugung aus erneuerbaren Energiequellen aus Gründen der Sicherheit und Diversifizierung der Energieversorgung, des Umweltschutzes und des sozialen und wirtschaftlichen Zusammenhalts für die Gemeinschaft von hoher Priorität. Dies wurde vom Rat in seiner Entschließung vom 8. Juni 1998 über erneuerbare Energieträger(5) und vom Europäischen Parlament in seiner Entschließung zum Weißbuch(6) bestätigt.

(2) The promotion of electricity produced from renewable energy sources is a high Community priority as outlined in the White Paper on Renewable Energy Sources (hereinafter referred to as "the White Paper") for reasons of security and diversification of energy supply, of environmental protection and of social and economic cohesion. That was endorsed by the Council in its resolution of 8 June 1998 on renewable sources of energy(5), and by the European Parliament in its resolution on the White Paper.(6)

Ich möchte dem Rat nur noch sagen- und ich hoffe, daß jemand vom Rat zuhört; ich weiß, daß wir dem Kommissionsmitglied vertrauen können, doch sagen wir dem Rat, daß seine Worte in Lissabon wirklich großartig waren, er jetzt aber Taten folgen lassen muß.

I would just say to the Council- and I hope there is somebody from the Council listening to this- I know we can have confidence in the Commissioner, but let us say to the Council that their fine words at Lisbon were great but they should now deliver on them.

Der Rat unterstützt die Durchführung eines Analyse- und Reparaturplans, der dazu beitragen soll, die Probleme bei der technischen Architektur des SIS II festzustellen, um das System stabil und zuverlässig zu machen.

The Council supports the implementation of an analysis and repairs plan to help identify the problems with SIS II's technical architecture, with the aim of making it stable and reliable.

Ich danke ausdrücklich der Kollegin Popadičová, die heute nicht hier sein kann, aber die wirklich ihr Bestes gegeben hat, was in diesem Rat nicht immer einfach war.

I would particularly like to thank Mrs Popadičová, who cannot be here today, but who really has done her best, something that has not always been easy in this Council.
